Why we need to buy locally?

Why we need to buy locally?

The present scenario has made people to buy goods locally. But, is it something new to India? Absolutely not. Indians always had a habit of buying locally. It is the westernization that has influenced most of the last two generations to buy online and the globalization has added to this aspect.

What are the benefits of buying locally?

  1. You get a trusted product - you can go and verify
  2. You support your own neighbour there by enhancing the lives of the people in the nearby community.
  3. High reduction in carbon footprint as the distance travelled from the manufacturer to the user will be less.
  4. In case of substandard product repair or replacement is easier and as trust has to be built up over a period of time, the seller also follows ethical practices. Because if there is no localy buyer, he can't sell anywhere.
  5. One should not sell globally any of the goods as they not only create vested interests, they also tempt the manufacturers to follow non-ethical practices and we don't even know whether the manufacturer is producing the goods by following ethical practices or not. In case where the manufacturer might sell the product at a throw away price then, there could be instances where they are not providing proper environment for their employees. Globalization has led to more corruption in the world than the actual benefits. The technology along with globalization has globalized the diseases which were suppose to be local.

There are more benefits in buying locally in long term. For the time being the above points are good enough.
